Welcome to iVitamin

Health. Science. Safety.

Pharmacist-Led Nutrition for the Real World.
A clinical resource dedicated to the science of safe supplementation.

Bridging the Gap Between Clinical Science and Nutrition

In a digital landscape saturated with marketing hype, finding reliable information can be difficult. iVitamin was founded on a simple principle: information about supplements should be reviewed using rigorous, evidence-based standards.

This platform exists to provide clarity, address common misconceptions, and highlight the importance of safety when considering nutritional supplements.

The content on iVitamin is for information and educational purposes only. It does not constitute a personal medical consultation, diagnosis, or prescription.

No content here should be used as a substitute for professional medical advice from your GP or Specialist.

No content on iVitamin is intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any medical condition.

Meet the Founder

Sohaib A. (MPharm) Clinical Pharmacist & Independent Prescriber

View Professional Profile on LinkedIn

I am a UK-registered Clinical Pharmacist with over eight years of experience across the pharmaceutical sector. My practice has spanned community pharmacy and primary care, leading to my current role embedded within NHS General Practice.

My approach to iVitamin is defined by evidence first. I do not view nutrition in isolation; I view it through the lens of pharmacology, considering how supplements are known to interact with commonly prescribed medications, based on published evidence.

The Independent Prescriber Standard

In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, I undertook advanced training to become an Independent Prescriber. This qualification allows me to manage patient care autonomously within my NHS scope of competence.

Applying Clinical Rigour to Education While iVitamin is an educational resource and not a clinic, I apply a “Pharmacist’s Perspective” to the content.

  • Pharmacokinetics: I review publicly available research on pharmacokinetics, including how ingredients are absorbed and metabolised.

  • Dosage Analysis: I compare labelled dosages with ranges commonly reported in published clinical studies, without making personal recommendations.

  • Interactions: I research potential drug–nutrient interactions reported in the literature, particularly in clinical contexts involving long-term conditions.

Safety Standards

My daily work in GP surgeries focuses on medication safety reviews. I bring this same vigilance to the content on iVitamin.

By monitoring regulatory alerts (such as those from the MHRA), I can identify potential risks in nutritional supplements that share similar metabolic pathways to prescription drugs. All information is referenced against recognized safety data and established clinical guidance for educational accuracy.

Expertise in General Practice

My clinical scope within the surgery focuses on Medicines Optimisation and long-term condition management. I work within a multidisciplinary team to manage cardiovascular health and support asthma control.

Crucially, my NHS role involves the interpretation of pathology results—monitoring renal (kidney) and liver function. This experience underpins the editorial standards of iVitamin. Understanding that renal function affects how the body processes substances, I aim to highlight why checking with a doctor is so important before starting new supplements. This content explains general principles only and is not intended for self-assessment or decision-making.

Our Editorial & Ethical Promise

iVitamin is an independent educational resource operating with full transparency.

  • Evidence-Based: Our content is rooted in clinical data, the BNF, and peer-reviewed research. We prioritize ingredients backed by science over trends.

  • Value & Transparency: As a steward of NHS resources, I value cost-effectiveness. I apply this same ethic here—analysing product labels to explain differences in formulation, sourcing, and marketing claims, helping readers make informed choices.

Conflict of Interest & Affiliates: To support the running of this site, we may use affiliate links (such as Amazon Associates). However, our recommendations are driven strictly by clinical quality. We filter the market to find products that meet high bioavailability and safety standards. If a product is popular but unsafe, we will tell you to avoid it.
