General Information

iVitamin is founded and clinically led by Sohaib Ahmed (MPharm), a UK-registered Clinical Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber. Sohaib has over eight years of experience working on the frontlines of the NHS, currently practising within General Practice (GP Surgeries).
No, I am a Clinical Pharmacist. While General Practitioners (Doctors) are the primary diagnosticians for acute and complex medical conditions, Clinical Pharmacists specialise in medicines optimisation and pharmacology.
In my role within the NHS, I work alongside doctors to manage long-term conditions. As an Independent Prescriber, I hold a specific qualification that allows me to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication autonomously within my scope of competence (primarily cardiovascular health and chronic disease management). This website brings that specific pharmaceutical expertise to the world of nutrition.
An Independent Prescriber is a pharmacist (or nurse) who has undertaken advanced training to prescribe medication without the supervision of a doctor. This means I am legally qualified to make clinical decisions, issue prescriptions, and monitor patient health. Although iVitamin is an educational resource and does not issue private prescriptions, this qualification ensures that all content on this site is written with a “prescriber’s mindset”, prioritising safety, evidence, and clinical appropriateness.

Clinical Safety and Advice

This is the most critical question we answer. Many supplements can interact with prescription drugs. For example, Vitamin K can interfere with Warfarin, and Calcium can block the absorption of certain antibiotics or thyroid medications.
Because I work daily with high-risk medications (including Opioids, Gabapentinoids, and anticoagulants), iVitamin focuses heavily on these interactions. However, every individual is different. You must always consult your own GP or pharmacist before adding a supplement to your routine, especially if you take long-term medication.

Yes. In my clinical practice, I am bound by the local formulary and NHS national guidelines (NICE). I believe in cost-effective, evidence-based healthcare. I apply these same ethical standards to this website. I will never recommend a product simply because it is “trendy.” I only recommend supplements that have a plausible mechanism of action and a safety profile supported by clinical data.
In my daily practice within GP surgeries, I routinely interpret blood results to monitor renal function (eGFR) and liver function. This is vital because your kidneys are responsible for filtering many substances from your blood. If you have reduced kidney function (Chronic Kidney Disease), taking high doses of certain vitamins or minerals can be dangerous. Most wellness sites ignore this risk; at iVitamin, we make it a priority.

How iVitamin Works

No. iVitamin is a clinical information resource, not a warehouse. We do not manufacture, store, or ship products. Instead, we act as a “Clinical Filter.” We review products available on the market, audit their ingredients and safety profiles, and provide links to trusted third-party retailers (such as Amazon) where you can purchase them.

We believe in total transparency. iVitamin is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. This means that if you click a link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This comes at no extra cost to you.
This affiliate model allows us to remain independent. We are not owned by a vitamin brand, so we are free to critique products honestly. If a product has poor bioavailability or unsafe additives, we will tell you to avoid it, regardless of the commission.
